Making Space to Say Grace

In Uncategorized on November 20, 2013 at 7:29 am

A motley crew will be gathering at my home.

In just a few days, my husband and I will kick off the holidays with what I affectionately call our “gratitude gathering.” An assorted mix of family, friends and business colleagues will gather in our backyard to share a drink, nibble on an appetizer, catch up with old friends and make new ones. Most importantly, we will begin the holidays by counting our blessings.

For many of us, life is hard and the thought of gathering to kick off the holidays with gratitude seems a lofty ambition. Which is precisely why we’re doing it. Each of us is profoundly broken in one way or another, yet every one of us is richly blessed. Sometimes it takes a gathering of the imperfect to see just how perfectly blessed we truly are.

You can read more about this idea of creating a time and space to say grace in my latest column for the Arizona Republic. http://t.co/MrvujJSHUM
